God, the Builder

Updated: Apr 14, 2020

Hebrews 3:4 says, "every house is built by someone, but he who built all things is God." Here, a house refers to the people of God, or an individual who trusts God. A house also suggests, the life of a person, or a home, a family - in Christ.

God, not man, has the expertise to build all things, for all conditions, seasons, weather or climate. Even a physical, material house, that can weather the elements requires a lot of different skills and expertise to put together. How much more, the life of a person, especially in this uncertain, unstable, shifting, and complex world - of the 21st century!

Here are some of God's architectural skills:

  • He stretches out the heavens like a tent and lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters. Psalms 104:2‭-‬3

  • He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; He suspends the earth over nothing. Job 26:7 NIV

  • For the (pillars) foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; on them He has set the world. 1 Samuel 2:8 NIV

  • It is He that buildeth his stories in the heaven, .... Amos 9:6 KJV

Christ is the faithful Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and hope in glory. No matter the complexity of the design, or the condition of disrepair He will build, or rebuild. He will bring out the original plan and beauty of your life on a solid foundation, The Rock!

It takes faithfulness (stability & dependability) to build a good and an enduring house, home, life, or family. Threats and trickery of this age cannot take down a life, a home, a family, that's founded on The Rock. Divorce, death, discouragement, disillusionment, despair, debt, losses, fear, rejection, isolation, loneliness, may beat on the House on The Rock, but it will stand the tests of time and troubles.

Here is my prayer for you: May the Lord build you a house (a life, a home, family), just as he promised David, an eternal house, for the righteous is an (has an) everlasting foundation (Proverbs 10:25). The winds & storms of life shall not carry you away, but move you forward and lift you upward- to your divine destiny. Amen, in Jesus name.

Pastor David.
